With more than 25 years of experience lending to the health and social care sector, former Virgin Money Head of Health and Social Care Jamie Stuart has taken a bold new direction—co-founding specialist dementia care provider Fortava with business partner Johann van Zyl (pictured). Candesic sits down with Jamie to explore what motivated this career shift and how the journey is unfolding so far.

Based in Peterborough, Fortava has acquired two purpose-built, 50-bed care homes—The Maltings and Thorpe Wood. But with the backing of private equity group Downing, Stuart and the team have plans to expand their portfolio.
